The effects of seven varieties of Tongcao on urine output and excretion of urine nitrogen, sodium and potassium were observed. The results showed that tongtuomu, Panax japonicus, green pod leaf and Begonia flower had obvious diuretic effect, among which tongtuomu had the strongest effect, while Luosan, Yunnan Xiangqiu and Hemarthria had no obvious diuretic effect.
