This product is the dried mature seed of Celosia argentea L., an Amaranthaceae plant. When the fruits are ripe in autumn, the plants or ears are harvested, dried in the sun, and the seeds are collected to remove impurities.
[properties] this product is oblate, and a few are round kidney shaped, with a diameter of 1 ~ 1.5mm. The surface is black or red black, bright, slightly raised in the middle, and there is a seed navel in the side micro concave. The seed coat is thin and brittle. The air is weak and the taste is light.
[identification] the powder of this product is gray black. The outer epidermal cells of the seed coat are dark reddish brown, with polygonal to long polygonal surface and polygonal grid like thickened texture. . 2、 Chemical constituents of semen Celosiae
Celosia argentea seed contains about 15% fatty oil, 30.8% starch, 14 μ g/g niacin and rich potassium nitrate. .
3、 Pharmacological effects of semen Celosiae
1. the antibacterial decoction has a strong inhibitory effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa. After 10% decoction is applied to the infected wound, Pseudomonas aeruginosa no longer grows and has no obvious stimulation to the wound.
2. dry powder can shorten the recalcification time of rabbit plasma.
3. it can reduce intraocular pressure. Semen Celosiae Decoction (1ml is equivalent to 1g crude medicine) has no obvious effect on the pupil of normal rabbits. After 6 days of continuous medication, the intraocular pressure decreased slightly, which is significantly different from the control group, but it can not prevent the increase of intraocular pressure after water load.
