The state invested 737million yuan to support the standardization of traditional Chinese Medicine

    China's traditional Chinese medicine series standards began to be comprehensively upgraded and improved. On july19,2016, the standardization project of traditional Chinese medicine, organized by the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, participated by hundreds of traditional Chinese medicine enterprises nationwide and supported by authoritative Chinese medicine related research institutes, was launched in Beijing. The national development and Reform Commission will invest 737million yuan in this project. According to the project plan, 60 kinds of large varieties of Chinese patent medicines and 100 kinds of Chinese Herbal Pieces commonly used in clinical practice are expected to achieve full quality control in 2018.

    According to the relevant person in charge of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, in recent years, there has been a strong demand for traditional Chinese medicine in China, but the quality of relevant traditional Chinese medicine has not increased as a result of this, but has declined seriously. There is an urgent need for unified, scientific and high-quality national standards to regulate. At the same time, the current quality standard of traditional Chinese medicine is generally determined by referring to the quality standard of Western medicine. This standard, which determines the quality status through individual active ingredients, has poor quality control effect on traditional Chinese medicine. It is urgent to establish a quality standard system that conforms to the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine. Especially in the context of the increasing demand for traditional Chinese medicine in the current international market, improving and improving the quality standards of traditional Chinese medicine will help domestic traditional Chinese medicine better participate in international competition and achieve greater development.

    In july2015, the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine organized the application for the standardization project of traditional Chinese medicine, focusing on the selection of large varieties of Chinese patent medicines and the most commonly used clinical decoction pieces included in the national catalogue of essential drugs, and preparing to develop the quality control standards and product standards throughout the production process of traditional Chinese medicine. In addition, the project will also build a supporting system platform for the standardization of traditional Chinese medicine, implement a mechanism for regular announcement of information on high-quality products of traditional Chinese medicine, so as to build a long-term mechanism for the standard of high-quality products of traditional Chinese medicine, promote high quality and good price, and promote the overall improvement of the quality of traditional Chinese medicine products.
