Steatohepatitis
Steatohepatitis is a form of liver inflammation characterized by fat accumulation in liver cells (steatosis) accompanied by inflammation and hepatocyte injury. It can progress to fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver failure. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the most common form, often associated with metabolic syndrome, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Alcoholic steatohepatitis (ASH) results from excessive alcohol consumption. Diagnosis involves liver biopsy, imaging, and blood tests.
