Wax gourd peel
1、 Pharmacopoeia standard of wax gourd peel       . When eating wax gourd, wash it, peel the outer peel, and dry it in the sun.
      . The outer surface is grayish green or yellowish white, covered with frost, and some are smooth and not covered with frost; The inner surface is rough, and some muscle vein vascular bundles can be seen. It is light and brittle. The air is weak and the taste is light.
      . The surface of pericarp epidermal cells is polygonal, and the vertical wall is flat and straight; The stomata are adventitious, with 5-7 accessory guard cells. Most of the stone cells are in groups, in quasi circular or polygonal shape, with a diameter of 10-56 µ m, and obvious pits and pore grooves. Threaded conduits are common, with diameters ranging from 16 to 54 µ M.

2、 Chemical constituents of wax gourd peel
Wax gourd peel contains volatile components: E-2-hexenal, n-hexenal, n-hexyl formate, 2,5-dimethylpyrazine, 2,6-dimethylpyrazine [1]. It also contains triterpenoids: isomultiflorenyl hexanoate [2], glutinol, simiarenol, 5,24-cucurbita-5,24-dienol [3]; Cholesterol derivatives: 24-ethylcholesta-7,25-dienol, 24-ethylcholesta-7,22,25-trienol, 24-ethylcholesta-7,22,25-trienol, 24-ethylcholesta-7-enol, 24-ethylcholesta-7-enol, 24-ethylcholesta-7,22-dienol [4]. It also contains vitamins B1, B2, C, niacin, carotene, glucose, fructose, sucrose, organic acids, starch, and inorganic elements such as sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, manganese, zinc [5].

3、 Pharmacological effects of wax gourd peel
Diuretic effect: in the recovery period of non renal edema, the patients took 2 liang of wax gourd skin Decoction orally and drank 1000ml of water, and the urine output in 2 hours after taking the medicine was significantly increased compared with that in the control group, and between 2-4 hours, it was decreased compared with that in the control group. In human test, the product 62g decocted as 100ml orally, and 100ml water as self control, proved to have diuretic effect.
